Here’s a question for you. How is your health right now? We often don’t realise how serious an impact excessive daily stress can have on our health until we actually remove it. Similarly, the positive effects that a sense of community, improved relationships, more exercise, fresh air and time spent in nature can have on our physical and mental well-being are seriously underestimated.
For many, the decision to finally move away from the stress of urban living is motivated by the need to improve their health and wellbeing. There comes a time when they can no longer ignore the physical and mental signs that it’s time for a serious change, so they pack up and start reaping the benefits of the healthy Riverina lifestyle.
On the other hand, many people continue to delay living the life they’ve always dreamed of because they’re afraid they’ll no longer have access to the health care and specialist facilities that city residents take for granted. If you’ve been pondering the possibility of a country change, let’s address some of these misconceptions and put your mind at ease.
Thanks to generous government investment, Riverina residents have access to a great range of medical facilities. The Wagga Wagga Health Service Redevelopment Project, for example, has received $55.1 million through the Australian Government’s Health and Hospitals Fund, whilst the State Government has provided $215 million, and a further $12 million has been allocated from the Commonwealth Government Sub-Acute Program for its Mental Health Unit, which has been flagged as the best in the country. The $282.1M redevelopment has been designed to meet all current and future needs of the Riverina community and beyond.
The New South Wales Government is continuing its investment in improving and expanding the region’s hospitals. $30 million has been committed to the expansion of the Albury Base Hospital Emergency Department, while the Tumut Hospital will be provided with funding for the planning stage of its future upgrade.
It’s also been recently announced that the Griffith Base Hospital is receiving $35 million dollars to modernise and upgrade its facilities to match the high level of quality service it provides to the community. Furthermore, the maternity ward at this hospital has, in recent years, enjoyed a $720,000 refurbishment to create a less clinical and more calming and comfortable environment for the many Riverina women who choose to give birth there.
